High
Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
Blood
pressure is the force or pressure on the walls of the arteries as the heart
pumps blood through them. The heart is a very powerful pump and does more
physical work than any other organ in the body! It beats 100,000 thousands
times a day as it pumps 4,300 gallons of blood through 60,000 miles of blood
vessels to supply each and every tissue cell with nutrition and oxygen. The
maintenance of blood pressure is primarily controlled by the nervous system.
Therefore, any disturbances or interference with the body's nervous system could
affect the blood pressure. This is why chiropractic is so effective in the
maintenance of normal blood pressure.
Other contributing factors to high blood pressure are obesity, poor diet that
can clog up the blood vessels to constrict, and lack of proper rest and
exercise. The chiropractic approach to help the body normalize the blood
pressure, besides counseling the above factors, is to "tune-up" the
body's nervous system with gentle chiropractic adjustments. In the early
stages of hypertension, there may not be any symptoms that are readily apparent,
so periodic blood pressure checks are advised. The best time to prevent
strokes and heart attacks is before they happen! Dr. Maloof has helped
people lower their blood pressure through her special techniques as well as
specific nutritional supplementation. If
you know of someone suffering with hypertension, please suggest that they call
our office for an appointment now.
